He was predeceased by his mother and father, his brothers Leonard, Glen, and Clifton Burton and his sisters Inez, Alice Burton, and Doris Simmons. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Monroe and Howard Burton, Pat Cox, Marcella Jaggers and his high school sweetheart, Dee F (Faccone) Burton, whom he was married to for 49 years. He graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1969. Larry was employed at Allison GM/Rolls Royce in Indianapolis for 30+ years. He was able to retire at the age of 55 and spent his days serving the Lord, spending time with his kids/grandkids, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and working on cars. Larry has three children, Angela Sodrel of Greenwood, Indiana, Amy Hetherington (David) of Portland, Oregon and Chris Burton of New Whiteland, Indiana; 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandson on the way, and a whole bunch of nieces and nephews. Larry lived many years as a true Pentecostal Christian. Several of those years he ministered to many people including 10 years in Baton Rouge, Lousiana preaching in the streets with Christ In Action. Larry was very active in the ministry and was a gentle soul who touched all those around him. Larry spent most of his days serving the Lord and spending time with his family and helping anyone he could along the way. Larry’s hobbies included Harley Davidson motorcycles, old cars, watching Fox News or Westerns, and he hardly ever missed an Edinburgh Basketball Game. Larry recently found himself a 1972 Oldsmobile Convertible Cutlass Supreme and enjoyed his last days cruising the town and going to car shows. Larry had amazing skills strumming his acoustic guitar and even writing and singing songs. Larry & Dee sang many years together at church. He wrote and played songs at his children’s weddings and his granddaughter’s 18th birthday. Larry loved listening to his music (Jimmy Swaggart), making his famous rum cake and toffee, visiting with his grandchildren, tinkering on his cars, and lending a hand to anyone in need. He was always witnessing and making new friends but had many long-time friends that he loved very much. Cancer took Larry’s life short, but Larry was at peace leaving this life and entering the kingdom of heaven that he always dreamed and believed in. Larry wanted peace and love for everyone. Larry’s famous words were to know Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior, what he did on the cross for you and to slow down.
